45Drives, which makes open-source enterprise storage, virtualization and AI infrastructure, is holding its fourth annual Creator Summit, October 20-22 across downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. The 2026 Creator Summit is organized around dedicated Enterprise and Creative tracks. Enterprise programming will focus on private and on-premises AI, high-performance data systems, data sovereignty, cybersecurity, open-source infrastructure and the decisions organizations face as AI workloads scale. The Creative Track will examine how AI is changing production, editing, design, storytelling and other real-world creative workflows.

BioMemory says the world's first DNA data storage service is live as it has launched DNA Shield. “For the first time, organizations can store their most critical data in DNA, as a service, and applications are open now.Every organization holds significant data it cannot afford to lose: the keys that unlock everything else, the formulas that took years to perfect, the records it must stand behind for decades. Most of it sits on connected systems within reach of an attack, on media that wears out. DNA Shield writes that data into DNA and keeps it completely offline, where no network can reach it. It is written once and built to last for generations without migration.”

BitTitan announced updates to MigrationWiz that deliver 3 to 5 times greater document migration throughput, shortening timelines for large, complex migrations across Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. The updates improve scheduling, indexing and parallel processing across supported OneDrive, Google Drive, Google Shared Drive, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online document workloads. They also help reduce delays, failed items and the manual troubleshooting required to keep projects moving. MigrationWiz helps organizations move files, folders, permissions, and metadata while maintaining file hierarchy and access requirements throughout the transition, whether a project involves gigabytes of user data or terabytes of content across a complex environment.

Cerabyte has preserved a digitally restored copy of Metropolis (1927 film) on its ceramic on glass storage media, designed to keep the film intact for centuries. The company says that, nearly a century ago, Fritz Lang’s Metropolis imagined a future shaped by robots, synthetic identities and mass manipulation influencing generations of science fiction, from Star Wars and Blade Runner to The Matrix. As the film approaches its centenary, Cerabyte is using it to pose a question: How will the enormous volumes of digital information being created today remain accessible, and unaltered for the next hundred years? The answer? Cerabyte technology, hopefully. At the Open Compute Global Summit Innovation Village, Cerabyte will demonstrate how content stored on its ceramic media can be independently read using optical imaging, including with a smartphone.

Industrial software company HighByte announced a partnership with Databricks to help manufacturers and industrial companies tap into their operational data for analytics, machine learning, and agentic use cases. HighByte supports the Databricks Data + AI Platform’s direct streaming interface with its native Zerobus integration, and builds upon a comprehensive set of already supported integrations with the open analytics platform.

Leland Jutcher has developed JuiceMount and tells us: “Every small post house I know already owns a NAS, and still pays per seat for a cloud mount to edit off it. I wanted my own storage to show up in Finder like a local drive, so I built JuiceMount. It is an open-source alternative to the cloud mounts you cover, like LucidLink.

  • -Mounts NAS storage as a Finder volume at /Volumes/JuiceMount.
  • -Streams blocks through an SSD cache, with offline pins for pinned directories.
  • -Free and open source (Apache-2.0), $0 per seat, built on JuiceFS. It is beta, macOS 14+ with Apple Silicon tested and TrueNAS SCALE as the tested server path.”

Micron plans to invest up to $50 million over five years to support the US Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission Graduate Fellowship Pilot Program and related national laboratory research. The fellowship creates four-year PhD pathways that pair super (artificial) intelligence research with a scientific discipline, plus hands-on research at a national lab and in industry. It’s also the first initiative tied to Micron Research Labs, the company’s planned Boise-based research hub.

Peer Software, maker of PeerGFS real-time file replication and synchronisation software, reports Danish engineering firm Liftra as a new customer. Liftra eliminated file replication delays, enabling global engineering teams to access the latest CAD files faster, collaborate more effectively and keep complex projects on track. Liftra designs and manufactures specialist lifting and transport solutions for the global wind energy industry. With engineering teams across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific, the company needed a more efficient way to manage and synchronise large volumes of engineering and project data between sites.

Rubrik expanded Project Hourglass, its partner alliance for securing agentic AI development, adding AHEAD, Trace3 and WWT and granting participating partners private preview access to Rubrik Code Guardian. Code Guardian leverages Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 to red-team an air-gapped copy of customer code, identify validated multi-step attack paths, and prioritise genuinely exploitable risks without touching live repositories or production environments.

Sandisk announced a partnership with Meta to become exclusive supplier of next-generation flash storage solutions for Meta VR Glasses upon their Spring 2027 launch. Co-developed with Meta, these products join the official “Made for Meta” ecosystem, including Sandisk microSD Express memory cards and USB-C flash drives.

Silk, provider of high-performance public cloud block storage, secured a $45 million growth capital round led by Avenue Capital Group, with participation from Sequoia Capital, S Capital VC, Vintage Investment Partners, Ibex Investors, West Coast Equity Partners and others. Silk will use the funds to expand engineering work on its data platform, scale go-to-market coverage for neocloud, sovereign and inference cloud providers, and grow enterprise presence across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. Silk founder and CEO Dani Golan said: “The shift from training-centric infrastructure toward autonomous agent-based production is happening now.

Organizations are spending enormous sums on compute only to wait on the data layer beneath it. This capital lets us build ahead of agentic demand and bring AI to the data.” The financing comes after sustained business growth for Silk, including validated support for latest AI-optimized cloud instance families and the appointment of Aaron Shoffa as Chief Business Development Officer to manage alliances with neocloud, sovereign and inference cloud providers. Its prior raise was $30 million in 2025, bringing total funding to $388 million.

SK hynix seeks US approval to export American chipmaking equipment to the Solidigm Dalian NAND fab in China to boost local output, as a condition for building its new US factory. SK hynix subsidiary Solidigm intends to install new NAND production equipment in unused space at its Dalian site. Solidigm currently manufactures NAND chips at the former Intel Dalian plant under SK hynix operation, using floating-gate technology instead of charge trap, and only 192 3D NAND layers versus the 321/375 layers used by SK hynix and other vendors. US export restrictions block upgrades to newer NAND technology. SK hynix told Reuters "The installation of equipment for Mod B is being carried out in close consultation with and under authorization from the US government. No capacity expansion is being sought for the Dalian Mod B, which was completed in 2023." Solidigm offered no comment.

WEKA CTO Shimon Ben-David has left the company. He assumed the CTO role in 2020. A LinkedIn post confirmed the news and suggests he is working on a new venture.
